Ladies Retreat

A Ladies Retreat is being planned for April 17 – 19 at beautiful Marshall Baptist Retreat Center in Guntersville, Alabama.  The topic for the weekend will be Beth Moore’s “Loving Well.”  There is a sign up sheet and more information available at the sign up table in the lobby.  If you have questions see Margaret Bills, Elizabeth Banks, or Jennifer Land.

Note from Megan

Dear Family, This is a little late getting to you, but we have had so many exciting things going on here in Arequipa. I also wanted to wait and find out about McKinzie #2 before I wrote you. Thanks to all for my birthday cards. It is something simple, but I am overjoyed to see names of so many people that I miss and love. Thank you for remembering me in January for my birthday.

Greg and I went to the doctor yesterday. I am very blessed to have good medical care here in Arequipa. We found out the exciting news that we are having another baby girl! I wanted to share that with all of you. Her namesake is sitting among you. We are naming her Margaret Kathryn and calling her “Maggie Kate.” My due date is set for July 22–after our summer whirlwind of visitors.

I cannot wait to send out our March newsletter. We have more exciting news to share with you there. Thanks to all of you for showing your support by email or commenting on our websites. We miss you and are always eager to share what God is doing here. All my love,Megan McKinzie.

Newcomer Fellowship

The semi-annual newcomer fellowship will be held on Sunday, March 29, after the morning Bible classes. Note the change of time for this event. In the past, the fellowship has been held after the Sunday evening service. The fellowship will consist of a potluck meal and the recognition of those who have become members of the congregation since August 2008. Everyone is encouraged to bring a dish or two and enjoy our family time together. Those that will be recognized are: Jackson Petty, Scott Jones, Kody McDaniel, Katie Kimzey, The Throneberry family, The Forde Family, Brandon Berridge, The Perry family, T. and Nicole Northcutt, and Stephanie Fraley.

High School Spring Banquet

All high school students are invited to attend the Spring Banquet 2009 on Friday, March 27th from 6:00 p.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Cedar Lane building. The cost is $15 per person and this includes dinner, picture CD, and entertainment. Ladies need to a wear formal or Sunday dress (please dress modestly) and gentlemen wear a tuxedo or suit. Paid reservations are due by March 20th to Jennifer Land in the church office.

Children’s Ministry Book Collection

The children’s ministry at Cedar Lane will be collecting elementary age children’s books for the summer mission trip to St. Vincent. The medical mission team will be working out of an elementary school in Barroullie Village where Kenny Greaves preaches. This school has approximately 300 children and they are in need of additional books. Please bring your gently used elementary age books and place them in the designated box in the main lobby during the months of March and April. Your support is appreciated. Photo Directory

The time has arrived for a new Cedar Lane family photo directory. On five dates, April 15 and April 22-25, Olan Mills will take the portraits in the Reception Room. Each family or individual that comes to the building for portraits will receive a Cedar Lane photo directory and a free 8×10 natural color portrait. You will be able to view and select your portrait electronically from a variety of poses. Additional Olan Mills portraits will be available for purchase; however, we’ve been promised that there will be no pressure. If a family decides later that they wish to purchase additional portraits they will be available. Your entire appointment will normally take less than one hour. Reserve your appointment time today at the signup table in the lobby.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Middle School youth group proudly announces the 2009 Annual Easter Egg Hunt to be held Saturday, April 4th at 11 a.m. at the home of Tom & Linda Clark. Please RSVP the names and ages of your hunters to the Dyes at 454-2578 before March 31st. Don’t forget to bring your basket!!
